Responsibilities:
Operate steam plant and waste treatment activities in a way that meets the spirit and the letter of all federal, state, local and FMC laws, regulations and standards.
Safety and Environmental
Operate and maintain the steam plant/boilers following all safety protocols.
Follow all safety programs and initiatives-especially considering process safety management standards and life critical.
Complete incident notifications steam plant related and all other.
Understand emergency procedure processes.
Conduct environmental sampling.
Handle, store, and monitor hazardous waste.
Complete environmental inspections.
Maintain all required HSSE records and logs.
Perform maintenance activities and operation of the steam plant/boilers in a safe and efficient manner that protects the safety of personnel, plant equipment, and the community.
May handle hazardous or universal waste, or supervise someone who does.
Boiler/steam plant performance
Perform routine maintenance whenever possible on off-shifts and weekends.
Operate the wastewater pretreatment facility.
Maintain wastewater pretreatment system equipment whenever possible.
Maintain all utility records daily for fuel, power, water, and steam.
Submit work orders for maintenance activities in all areas.
Maintain all required records and logs.
Perform maintenance activities in the hydrocolloids and agarose manufacturing areas. These activities include, but may not be limited to, pump repair, automotive repair, welding, piping, electrical, instrumentation, plumbing, and machining.

Required Education:
Knowledge/Skills/abilities and Certifications
State of Maine High Pressure Boiler Operators License or State of Maine Engineers License preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
Certified hazardous waste handling and storage or ability to successfully be certified within 90 days of employment.
Fork truck experience.
Work in a team environment with little supervision.
Mechanical Aptitude
Qualifications:
Experience
One to three years maintenance experience required for the entry level position.
Experience in a steam plant/boilers and manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements
Able to climb ladders and work off platform at a height up to 50 feet.
Able to lift 50 pounds.
Able to work in confined areas.
Personal Qualities
Able to work in a team environment with little supervision.
Able to work with little supervision.
Good communication skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
